Rifle Scopes

While the goal of a rifle scope is rather straightforward, its importance is often underestimated, inevitably leading to poor results and dissatisfaction. The fact is that if you have a mediocre scope, you will hardly hit the target even with the best rifle ever. On the contrary, a top-quality scope will rocket your score even with an average rifle. The reason is that scopes are complex and delicate optical devices, where a series of lenses and precision mechanisms cooperate to align the barrel with the target. The better the quality of separate components and the assembly, the more reliable and precise the rifle scope.

How does it work? The objective lens at the front of the scope captures the light and transmits it to the ocular lens at the other end of the scope. In between, the focus lens allows for focusing on a target. Another essential component is the erector tube, which holds the reticle assembly and the magnification lens that magnifies the target objects. Finally, there are a couple of external devices that allow evaluating the windage and elevation. Rifle scopes are offered with various focal lenses, magnification rates, and reticle types. Different finishes are also available, while some models come with some extra features and can be illuminated, fog- or waterproof, and shockproof.
