Archery is one of the most fascinating recreational activities. But mastering the use of the bow requires time and devotion. Acquiring the correct sequences of actions and the right posture to shoot arrows is a long path. One of the hardest things to achieve is consistency: even the most experienced archers cannot ensure the accuracy of all shots for many reasons including tiredness, a sudden twist of wind, etc. Release aids are devices that improve consistency by making the release easier. They are offered in two main types: mechanical and finger releases.
Usually, the former is used with compound bows, the latter is a favorite pick among owners of long and recurve bows. Mechanical releases are attached through jaws or a clip to a D-loop in the bowstring and are operated by a trigger that can be handheld or wrist-mounted. Finger releases are special gloves or tabs for the shooting fingers (index, middle, and ring).
